Overview

In order to fight corruption and fraud, governments need to be committed to developing a culture of integrity and accountability. It is essential to maintaining trust in governments who are under growing pressure from the public to be more and more transparent.

Developing a culture of integrity involves regularly updating standards and guidance as well as monitoring and enforcing it. Governments also need to be able to anticipate risks and apply tailored countermeasures.

This 5-day course focuses on the fundamentals of good anti-corruption practice and shows participants how to develop an integrity (anti-corruption) strategy relevant to the needs of the organisation.

By attending this course participants will learn how to:

  • Develop an analysis of strengths and weaknesses which can form the basis of a strategy and action plan for fighting corruption within the institution. These individual plans can be compared and harmonised across the full range of institutions.
  • Identify specific areas of corruption and/or areas at risk of corruption. Identify and address gaps or inconsistencies and area which are weak or under-resourced.
  • Create an inventory with a brief outline of the establishment and mandate of each institution and the responsibilities it has in fighting corruption or other relevant areas.
  • Develop and manage an integrity committee, set up reporting lines
  • Develop and maintain and integrity communications strategy
