Aims and Objectives

In business writing, the language is concrete, the point of view is clear, and the points are well-expressed. Good writing is hard work and even the best writers get discouraged. However, with key points in terms of structure and style, as well as practice you can feel more confident about your own writing.

This course will:

  • review existing writing amongst the delegates
  • equip the delegates with key tools and skills to be able to write more effective
  • give the delegates the opportunity to practice on an existing sample of their work, as well as new writing


Programme objectives:
The objective of the course is to enhance the capability of staff with regards to effective business writing.  By the end of the course participants should have the knowledge, ability and tools to:

  • Use appropriate written communication structures and styles for different audiences and for different purposes e.g. emails versus letters, business reports versus proposals; PowerPoint presentations versus full text write-ups etc.
  • Write in simple English using current practices with regards to grammar and spelling;
  • Communicate succinctly and with the desired impact i.e. get the message across clearly in the fewest possible words
  • Use consistent fonts and font-size per the Bank’s internal guidelines.
